Active DISPUTE<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n

Granite city police alleged that an individual at a property I owned had committed a felony, see: “Eviction notice<\/a>“.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As we oftentimes find, however, there\nare two sides to the story, and although I am but a landlord, not a\npolice detective, I investigated the situation myself, and here is\nwhat my cursory investigation revealed:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A vehicle containing at least two people had followed the accused son’s mother to her home, my property and where the incident allegedly occurred. Before the mother could get to the front door, an individual stepped out of the vehicle, and began to threaten her. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The police were called, however, by the\ntime Granite city police arrived the incident was over and the\nassailants were gone.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It is my understanding that the son\nexplained to the police that he was inside the house when he heard\nhis mother screaming for the assailants to leave. The son then then\ntook a gun and stepped onto the front porch, where he told the\nassailants to leave his mother alone. Presumably upon noticing the\nfirearm, they promptly complied.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The mother knew the name of one of the\nindividuals, which she gave to police along with the description of\ntheir car.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Granite city police proceeded to\nhandcuff and arrest her son for \u201cAGGRAVATED UNLAWFUL USE OF A\nWEAPON\u201d. The police later sent the son’s father, who was not at the\nproperty when the incident occurred, a letter stating that he and his\nfamily were found to be in violation of crime free law.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The police also sent a notice to me, dated 3-27-19, stating that I had 15 days to evict the entire family, or I would be found to be in violation of crime-free law which would entail the revocation of my business license (if I had one).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
